Preface
The night of the McDaniel party…
The music was blaring as she walked in the front door. Immediately assaulted with smoke, booze, and the smell of sex, Hazel felt dirty, and she hadn’t even done anything yet but walk in the damn house. She had heard that the McDaniel Brothers loved to party, but this was unlike anything she had ever seen.
Coming from a small town in South Florida, Hazel had seen her fair share of parties, orgies, and just the plain, “ew, that’s gross” shit, but looking around the room, she had to admit to herself, this was a first. Nothing says “that’s fucked up” like a man being led around on a leash wearing a sheep costume and bahhing like an idiot. What made the whole thing weirder was that the woman, who was dressed like Little Dominatrix Bo Peep, kept hitting the man with a large stick until he was corralled with a large potbellied pig with the name “Peaches” written on its stomach in red lipstick!
“Oh my God,” she murmured to herself, shutting the front door. Staying very close to the wall, she moved away from a couple who were clearly fucking on window table.
“Honey, God wouldn’t step one toe in this place,” a large man dressed in blood-red leather pants, combat boots, and wearing a Zorro mask said, standing next to her. She slowly turned and looked up and up. Holy baby Jesus, the man was fucking gorgeous. Even though she couldn’t see his whole face because of the mask, what she did see made her blink several times. His eyes were crystal blue. They reminded her of the time she and her mother took a trip to the Caribbean. His strong jaw and full lips were something to behold, but every square inch of him bulged muscles, muscles upon muscles upon muscles.
Quickly remembering why she was in this godforsaken hellhole, she asked, “What the hell is going on here?”
“Welcome to Sodom and Gomorrah, my love.” Mr. Muscles smiled wickedly at her and walked away as if he spotted who he, too, was looking for. She stood there as he moved quickly through the throngs of partygoers until he disappeared around the corner.
Hazel pushed away from the wall, looking for the two men she knew were there.
She had heard from Macie that Steven and Neil Conner frequented the McDaniel parties, and though she could admit it to herself t
hat her curiosity generally got the best of her, she was there for another reason.
Those assholes had stood her up!
She had been waiting for them for over three damn hours. Dressed and ready to go to dinner and possibly some dancing afterward. They had insisted that she needed a break from her little business in town, and after a week of pestering her, she relented, except they stood her up for booze and freaky sex.
She was pissed.
Hazel didn’t have anything against freaky sex. Hell, she was known to do the occasional odd taboo. She went to college. She partied with the best of the chess club. It was just that college was over, and that part of her life was done. She was a mature adult, a business owner, and a respectable member of the community, not a child on spring break!
Making her way through the throngs of degenerates and sex-craved morons, Hazel was bumped into, brushed up against, and groped more times than she cared to admit. However, when some asshole grabbed her from behind and started rubbing his massive hard cock against her ass, she had had enough.
Turning slowly around, she was momentarily struck stupid.
The man was stunning. He stood over six feet tall with long golden hair and looked like Adonis himself. His piercing blue eyes and shimmering tanned body was enough to make any woman swoon, but not her. She had dealt with her fair share of pretty boys, and this one was just like all the rest. She was about to give the blond Adonis a solid tongue-lashing, when the unthinkable happened.
There right before her, with him rubbing up on her, she watched in total disbelief as the man ejaculated all over her pristine, and brand-spanking-new, Vera Wang cocktail dress. The one she had saved for over a fucking year. Now, it was ruined with this man’s cum dripping down the front of it.
The residents of Treasure Cove had gotten to know Hazel when she moved to town a little over two years ago. They welcomed her with open arms. Though not many knew of her past, those small few who did, well, they were also aware of her temper. Not many people knew of it, because she worked damn hard to keep it in check.
Being a true redhead and the daughter of an Irishman and a full-blooded Gypsy, Hazel had to learn from a very young age to curb the fire that raged within her. Nevertheless, every so often, that rage would boil to the surface and unleash a fury unlike anyone had ever seen.
And this was about to be one of those times.
Without warning, Hazel stepped back and let her fist fly. She felt the connecting flesh as the man before her stumbled and then fell onto the white bear rug at his feet, bleeding from his now-broken nose. Those around her saw what she had done and immediately began hollering and laughing, pointing their fingers at the man who now lay unconscious on the floor.
“Apollo, you pussy!”
“Damn, KO’d by a girl!”
“Someone get some rope. Let’s tie him up.”
Turning from the gathering group of onlookers, Hazel made her way through the loud crowd, desperately looking for a bathroom, only to stumble across Annie Hicks.
“Hazel!” The beautiful, brown-haired woman smiled and was about to give her a hug when Hazel stopped her.
Holding her hand out to stop the woman, she seethed. “Don’t! Some asshole just shot his wad all over my new Vera Wang!”
“Oh wow. Come on. The bathroom is this way,” Annie said, grabbing her hand.
Moving swiftly around people, she followed Antoinette into a spacious bathroom.
The moment the door shut, Hazel felt like crying. What kind of place was this? Coming from a spring break town in South Florida, Hazel thought she left all that crap behind. She had moved to Treasure Cove after the death of her mother, searching for a fresh start and a new lease on life. When she landed in Treasure Cove, she fell in love with the quaint town and decided to stay. She never regretted that decision, until now.
Living in Treasure Cove was an adjustment, to say the least. The colder temperatures and harsh winters were a shock to her system, but the people were friendly and genuinely nice. She was only in town a month, opening her new business, when she met Steven and Neil Conner.
They were unlike anything she had ever seen. Those two men barreled into her life and made it known that she was theirs. At first, all they accomplished was pissing her off. At one point, she banned them from her store, but their aggressive attitudes and unwavering chivalry softened her heart to them, and for the last two months, they had been dating.
Hazel believed in taking things slow. She really went at a snail’s pace when she realized that both of the brothers wanted to date her, together. She had heard stories from Macie, the owner of the local diner and gossip hole in Treasure Cove, about how things worked here. However, being naive and innocent, she thought Macie was just pulling her leg.
Boy was she wrong!
It took a lot of internal consideration for her to agree to see both men at the same time, and she still wasn’t so sure of how a relationship like that would work, but never one to shy away from something new, she gave it a go.
That was until they stood her up.
“Hazel, why are you here? I thought you had a date with Steven and Neil.”
“I did,” she growled, rubbing her soiled dress vigorously.
“What did they do?” Annie asked.
“Stood me up.”
“Rut row. And you think they came here instead?”
“I know they’re here.”
“Want me to help you find them?”
“No. By the way, what are you doing here?”
“Uh, I’m waiting on someone.” She smiled.
“You think he’s going to show?” Hazel looked up at her friend and wanted nothing more than to tell Annie to forget him. The look in her friend’s eyes stopped her. It was no secret that Antoinette Hicks wanted only one man. The only problem was that man refused to consider her request. Hazel had watched repeatedly as Annie tried desperately to get the Pleasure Cave’s owner, Gabriel Sexton’s attention. Hazel wished she could tell Annie that Gabriel wouldn’t relent. She’d known the man long before she moved to Montana. He was one of two people who actually knew the truth about her. She owed Gabriel everything. And she would not break his trust. Therefore, Hazel did what any good friend would do. She was there for Annie, in every way she could. Something in her friend’s eyes told Hazel that her friendship was going to be called upon again tonight.
“Yeah.”
“Well, I hope you find him. As for the Conner Brothers, they are up shit creek without a paddle when I find them. The nerve of them, ditching me for this place. And to think, tonight I was going to let them have their way with me,” Hazel admitted.
“I haven’t seen them. They may not even be here. Something could have happened out at the ranch and they are just running late.”
“Three hours late?”
“Wow, three hours?”
“Yes.”
“Well, good luck with yours. I gotta head back out there.”
“Be careful, Annie. He isn’t like any other man I’ve ever met. There is something dark within him.”
“I know. I’ll be careful.”
Her friend exited the bathroom, and just before the door closed again, Hazel caught site of Neil Conner shooting daggers at someone.
Making her way out of the bathroom, she heard a loud roar come over the crowd, as the partygoers cheered. Three men and a little blonde woman stood in the middle of the living room as one of the men shouted, “Congratulate us, folks, we just got married!”
The uproar was deafening.
God help that woman!
Ignoring the screaming idiots, she turned back to find Neil no longer standing where he was. Quickly looking around, she spotted him making his way toward the middle of the room. Following swiftly, she grabbed his arm just as he was about to say something to someone. He turned toward her, and his face turned to shock.
“Hazel!” Neil shouted over the loud crowd.
“You stood me up!” she yelled back as he grabbed her arm
and herded her to one of the back rooms. When he closed the door, she unleashed her fury. “You stood me up for this? Of all the ungrateful, inconsiderate assholes, you could have at least called and canceled. But no! You stood me up! You left me waiting at home for over three hours and with no call, no note, nothing! I expected more from you. I thought you were different, but you’re just like all the others.”
“Hazel, sweetheart, it’s not what you think?” Neil began, but she didn’t want to hear his excuses.
“Shut up! I have had it with deceiving men who think they can get away with their extracurricular activities without getting caught. We’re done! You can tell your brother that when you see him,” she said, furiously walking toward the door, only to be stopped when he gently grabbed her hand.
“Hazel, please. Let me explain. We were headed to your place when Braxton called us. He said Annie was here. If her brothers ever found out that she showed up to one of the McDaniel parties, they would kill them and her. Steven, Braxton, Jordan, and I are looking for her. We have to get her out of here. This place is crazy.”
“Well, you missed her. She is looking for someone.”
“You’ve seen her? Where?”
“She was with me in the bathroom helping me to wash cum off of my new dress that I bought just for this night!” she shouted at him again.
The blanched look on his face would have made her laugh if she wasn’t so damn angry. Of the two brothers, Neil was the softhearted one, the one who could never lie, and was always the perfect gentleman. She loved Neil, though she never told him, and that fact was what was making this whole scenario hurt the most. He didn’t care enough to call and tell her he was going to be late. She would have understood that, hell, even accepted that, but they left her waiting.
